Sunday, April 30, 2006Anyone who is willing to hear should listen and understand. The people who are destined for prison will be arrested and taken away. Those who are desitined for death will be killed. But do not be dismayed, for here is your opportunity to have endurance and faith.-Revelation 13:9-10 Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. -1 Peter 1:4-5 So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though it is necessary for you to endure many trials for a while. These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-and your heart is far more precious to God than mere gold. So i your faith remains strong after being tried by firey trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. -1 Peter 1:6-7 You love him even though you hae never seen him. Though you do not see him, you trust him; and even now you are happy with a glorious, inexpressible joy. Your reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. -1 Peter 1:8-9 So get rid of all malicious behaviour and deceit. Don't just pretend to be good! Be done with hypocrisy and jealousy and backstabbing. You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. -1 Peter 2:1-2 Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doig wrong. But if you suffer for doing righ and are patient beneath the blows, God is pleased with you. This suffering is all part of what God has called you to. Christ, who suffered for you, is your example. Follow in his steps. He never sinned, and he never decieved anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted. When he suffered, he did not threaten to get even. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. -1 Peter 2:20-23 Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. -1 Peter 3:3-4 Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate when people say unkind things about you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do, and he will bless you for it. -1 Peter 3:9 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. -1 Peter 4:8 God has given gifts to each of you from a great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you. Are you called to be a speaker? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. -1 Peter 4:10-11 Dear friends, don't be surprised at the firey trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad-because these trials will make you partners with Christ in his suffering, and afterward you will have the wonderful joy of sharing his glory when it is displayed to all the world. Be happy is you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God will come upon you. -1 Peter 4:12-14 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in his good time he will honor you. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you. -1 Peter 5:6-7 In his kindness God called you to his eternal glory by means of Jesus Christ. -James 1:2-4 God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. -James 1:12 And the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as the person who has broken all of God's laws. For the same God who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." So if you murder someone, you have broken the entire law, even if you do not commit adultery. James 2:10-11 So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself by good deeds is no faith at all-is is dead ad useless. -James 2:17 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites. Let there be tears for the wrong things you have done. Let there be sorry and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on him, he will lift you up and give you honor. -James 4:7-10 But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned for it. -James 5:12 Are any among you suffering? They should keep on praying about it. An those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to the Lord. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, annointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. -Jamess 5:13-16

And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. -Colossians 3:12-15 Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. -Colossians 3:23 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. -Colossians 4:2 Live wisely among those who are not Christians, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and effective so that you will have the right answer for everyone. -Colossians 4:5-6 I can tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. So comfort and encourage each other with these words. -1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 But God will use this persecution to show his justice. For he will make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering, and in his justice he will punish those who persecute you. And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don't know God and those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power when he comes to receive glory and praise from his holy people. -2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

-Ephesians 5:1-2 So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you. Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts. And you will always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. -Ephesians 5:15-20 Every time I think of you, I give thanksto my God. I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy -Philippians 1:3-4 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose. Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing. -Philipians 2:1-4 I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all tht Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be. No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. -Philippians 3:12-14 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take these weak mortal bodies of ours and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same mighty power that he we use to conquer everything, everywhere. -Philippians 3:20-21 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again - rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. -Philippians 4:4-5 For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. -Philippians 4:13
